Pre-Week 3 Power Rankings

God Damn am I still salty. Let’s do this.

Tier 1

1. Gio 👑 (2-0) (+1)

Poor Gio is once again deprived of top scorer of the week by some late-game BS from Erik. If this happens a third week in a row I can see you rage-trading that draft pile you’re sitting on just to prove your point (I wrote this before that three way trade– I am Nostradamus). Despite being cucked by Erik, which a lot of men can claim the same, losing Brees and a lack of RB2 moves Gio back up to the top. At this point, Gio and Erik are 1A and 1B in this league. The number one spot is once again Gio’s to defend, and with Hurtado coming up next week, let’s hope he doesn’t regret shipping Dalvin off a week too early.

2. Erik 🥴 (2-0) (-1)

After conceding defeat to me about 7 times since Thursday, the fantasy gods intervened to prove my point that “ima lose gg” is the worst meme in this league. It is never over until it’s over, not even if your stud running back drops a dud on Thursday, not even if your stud QB gets injured and exits the game with negative points,  not even if your opponent puts up the third-highest score of the week. You can still get bailed out by an 89 yard OBJ TD reception on Monday night and all the yardage and scoring bonuses that come with it. Fuck you Erik, please destroy Chuckie this week.

Tier 2

3. Nauch 🐏 (2-0) (+2)

The Ram bounces back after dropping a dud week 1 and survives as a member of the undefeated club thanks to a Nick Chubb resurgence and the (re)rise of Calvin Ridley as a WR threat. Next week’s matchup vs the winless Ant looks tough on paper- can’t depend on Stefon Diggs getting a lucky catch and run every week with Kirk Cousins chucking the rock.

4. Roberto 🦂 (1-1) (+4)

After Starting from the Bottom, the Roberto hype train is starting to Make Me Proud. Patrick Mahomes has been on his Worst Behavior, accounting for over a third of his teams total points this season. What is surprising is his Crew’s love– his supporting cast has been Successful in placing him at 3rd in PF so far this season. I’m going to have to ask Roberto to Hold On, cause I’ve lost Back to Back games to start the season and I’d like it to be Over.

5. Chuck 💩 (1-1) (-2)

And here we have a lesson in diversification (credit to Nauch for the inspo).  Last Sunday’s gamescript was so in the Pats favor that they did not need to air it out nearly as much to support 3 starting wideouts– the defense and run game were plenty able to win this game on their own. Being able to pivot away from bad matchups and gamescripts is a super important part of fantasy and why now, Chuck’s team is extremely dependent on how much Tom needs to air it out in close games (which, looking at their opening schedule, might not be a lot). Next up is a semifinal rematch with Erik, good luck.

6. Wings❓❗ (0-2) (+3)

Things are not well for the champion. Despite bouncing back with the 3rd highest score of the week, I end a second consecutive fantasy week with a broken heart and a drink in my hand. With maybe some bias, my team is better than its record and I’m sure it’ll show once I stop getting shafted by players during the late games. At least this week vs Roberto I’ll get shafted by Mahomes during the early games.

7. J0e-2 😮 (-)

Joe and I are in similar situations– he is 4th in PPG this season but yet has nothing to show for it. In Joe’s case, he has the pieces to dominate but hasn’t yet lined them up properly to dominate his opponent. Next week is pivotal in the battle of the Cassidys with Chuck on the downward trend. Let’s hope third time is the charm versus Alex, or else I’ll have to continue that corny pun in his name.

Tier 3

8. Hurtado 💥 (1-1) (-4)

In which all hype dies. Gotta say he was very unlucky to have two players goose from injuries, but he has also been a Hurthoto for injured players on the trade market. Now that he has bitten off more than he can chew, there’s been quite the pivot as evidenced by his overpayment for Dalvin Cook. If Jon’s plan was to hang around at .500 until Tyreek and Green return, he sure is on pace.

9. Alex 🏆 (1-1) (+1)

Congrats on escaping the winless hole so early in the season! I am so happy that Alex took my waiver wire advice and picked up Dak Prescott before his breakout performance last week. Him and Mark Andrews show why even with a poor draft, you can still buy wins through being smart on the trade block and in free agency. His RB situation is still dire, but with Dak playing Miami this week there’s always the chance he steals another win while digging for waiver gold.

10. Ant 🏥 (0-2) (-4)

I will admit I had Ant at 9, but the trade he just made indicates he is reeling after seeing his depth shot by the injury bug and some draft players starting to bust. I don’t want to use the T-word just yet, since its early in the season and I can still see him stealing a win vs Nauch this week. Let’s hope things pick back up for you soon buddy.
