Pre-Week 2 Power Rankings

Tier 1

1. Erik πŸ‘‘ (1-0)(+1)

In hilarious fashion, Erik snuck out of week 1 with an easy dub and the highest scorer of the week by a mere .2 points after a Will Lutz dime. Breesus’ performance put to rest any chance of an upset by Roberto. CMC shined with Cam looking bad, and TY Hilton showed there’s nothing to worry about after the Andrew Luck debacle. Erik looks poised for a successful revenge game vs the Champion and may indeed have this put away by tonight.

2. Gio πŸ˜” (1-0) (-1)

Gio should really plead the 5th anytime the subject of his team accomplishing something neat comes up. Not to say Gio’s team doesn’t also look great– Dalvin Cook looks very good and the Houston offensive stack put in a great amount of work in an absolute smackdown of Alex’s team. Gio and Erik are gonna be alternating a lot this season, but this week’s matchup vs Joe is looking a lot tougher than Erik’s is. GL.

Tier 2

3. Chuck πŸ₯³ (1-0) (+4)

After a week in time out for making absolutely wild trades, Chuck shoots right back up into the top of the pack after squeezing one out vs Ant that came down to the wire Monday night. Tom Brady looked fantastic and Chuck’s running backs both are finally getting the usage they should on their teams, resulting in the third highest score of the week. Losing Hunter Henry does hurt a bit, but with Chuck starting the Pats air attack vs. Miami this week, I am comfortable picking him to win vs Nauch.

4. Hurtado πŸ“ˆ (1-0) (+5)

After ragging him all preseason, Hurtado silences his haters and puts up a very impressive performance, upsetting Joe behind a godlike performance by Austin Ekler that has Melvin Gordon shook. Hurtado also showed a surprising amount of Bench depth and is still holding out for the return of Gordon, Green, and now Tyreek Hill. A week 2 battle vs Alex gives Jon a good shot at starting the season off 2-0.

5. Nauch πŸ˜  (1-0) (-2)

By a single Juju catch, which happens to be his last one of the night before limping off, Nauch avoids falling out of the top 5. Nauch severely underperformed this week- putting up the second-to-last point total, which makes snagging a win all the more important with a tough face-off vs Chuck coming up. You’ve got a lot of balls firing up Trubisky again when your plan was to stream QBs, I’ll give you that.

6. Ant πŸ˜¬ (0-1) (-1)

Ant had a surprisingly solid performance this week, with both of his running backs far exceeding my expectations and giving Chuckles a scare Monday night, and Michael Thomas was his usual self. Despite losing Hill, Guice, Coleman and my axe to injury, Ant’s bench depth and ability to make not shitty trades gives him dependable players to plug in (Gallup and Waller are going to go off). Ant is currently going into this week as the underdog vs Roberto, but I think Ant can pull the W off.. if Mixon doesn’t play.

7. Joe πŸ›‹οΈ (0-1) (-1)

Bold prediction: Joe will not like his ranking. I had him and ant in a near tie, giving Ant the advantage as he avoided taking the crown for best bench performance in the history of fantasy football– could you imagine how funny it would have been if this dude didn’t flex in Sammy Watkins. Joe would be smart to get all of these benchwarmers in, as he has a serious shot at upsetting Gio and avoiding the 0-2 hole.

Tier 3

8. Roberto πŸ˜Ž (0-1) (-)

Roberto finally made it out to casa del Wings and got to experience my couch’s comfort firsthand. As I said last week, Roberto’s got himself a solid squad with two really good quarterbacks (if only you didn’t draft mahomes at 1, you could be 1-0 right now) and very good options at RB/WR. Next week’s bout vs Ant will be a pivotal one- don’t make me eat my words Roberto.

9. Wings πŸ—‘️πŸ”₯ (0-1) (-5)

Talk about a championship hangover. I considered this game over pretty much since Adams and Mopportunity both shat themselves on Thursday night, with a slight glimmer of hope coming back Sunday evening before Juju sealed it. Nothing else for me to do but lick my wounds, hit the waiver wire and cross my fingers I can squeeze this W out vs Erik. If I don’t, I can always fall back on Rangz πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’

10. Alex (0-1) (-)

For poor Alex, it was a foregone conclusion that he would end up here with Gio being his opponent. Not all hope is lost here- he did still end up the 8th highest scorer of the week, and his receiving core and Evan Engram look like they will be dependable. Alex’s best moves are to be smart on waivers and get himself running back options that can buy him wins on a weekly basis– eventually one of them will shine (as they do every year). His next shot at getting in the win column comes vs. Hurtado.
