Week 3 is in the books and the balance of power in the league is starting to become apparent. Time goes by so fast, we’re already going into the bye weeks which means a real test of depth for our 2-1 and 3-0 teams.
Tier 1
(+2) 1. FITZMAGIC GANG (3-0)
W3 Result: W vs Roberto 172.9-106.4
Top 3 Scorers: Fitzmagic (35.1), Thielen (26.5), OBJ (21.9), 48% PF
Standing: 1st in Personality, 2nd in PF (477.8)
Next Week’s Opponent: Weege (1-2)
My Thoughts: As the last undefeated man standing, the highest scorer this week and the number 2 overall, after being ranked the 10th best draft, take your number 1, sir. The strategy of having Joe’s players boom in rotation is still working- for christ sake your IDP scored 17 points when Coop once again Pooped. Joe’s bench also had only one single-digit and THREE 20-point games. The league awaits one of his classic late-season collapses to derail this hot streak.
(-1) 2. Single Erik (2-1)
W3 Result: W vs Weege 167-79.5
Top 3 Scorers: Kamara (36), Big Ben (35), CMC (23.4), 56% PF
Standing: 1st in A&T, 1st in PF (530.4)
Next Week’s Opponent: Nauch (2-1)
My Thoughts: Another week, another #1 dethroned. Erik may have won, but his matchup was laughably easy even compared to Joe’s. Erik also relied slightly more on his top 3 to contribute to his score and his bench is a little weaker than Joe’s. He’s still a stud, in fantasy and in real life, so don’t worry Erik is still a surefire contender for the ship, but I had to take a look at the numbers, considering I was also low on this team.
(-1) 3. Team Slap Ass (2-1)
W3 Result: L vs Wings 106.9-141.4
Top 3 Scorers not on the bench: M. Thomas (24.9), M. Gordon (16.4), TJ Yeldon (15), 52% PF
Standing: 2nd in Personality, 4th in PF (462.2)
Next Week’s Opponent: Hurtado (0-3)
My Thoughts: Ouch. We all have those days Gio- I lost by 4 in another league with Chris Carson on my bench after I started Lindsay.. just gotta pick yourself back up and move onto the next week. Gio will definitely be doing some extra research into setting his lineup next week- even against a winless Hurtado I think I proved anything could happen.
(–) 4. Toe Goblin (2-1)
W3 Result: W vs Totties 162.7-131
Top 3 Scorers: Breesus (48.5), Landry (22.3), Bernard (19.6), 56% PF
Standing: 2nd in A&T, 3rd in PF (465)
Next Week’s Opponent: Wings (2-1)
My Thoughts: What injuries? A career game from Brees saves Ant in the cripple bowl. The rise of Baker Mayfield gives Jarvis Landry a solid WR2 rank and the backup RB situation will make do if Breida can continue to benefit without Jimmy G.
(+2) 5. 3A (2-1)
W3 Result: W vs Gio 141.4-106.9
Top 3 Scorers: Stafford (21.5), Lynch (18.6), Adams (18.2), 41% PF
Standing: 3rd in Personality, 6th in PF (393.8)
Next Week’s Opponent: Ant (2-1)
My Thoughts: I won’t lie and say I didn’t luck out this week that Gio’s team had a meltdown. With the league scoring an average of 139 PPG this game could have swung either way. I’m also getting concerned with the lack of stud-level performances per individual, but I will say I’m happy with my team performing well all-around. But definitely not a championship contender until I get a game-changing player.
(+2) 6. Big Dick Energy (2-1)
W3 Result: W vs Chuck 129.4-125.5
Top 3 Scorers: Gurley (26.6), Jimmy G (RIP) (26.3), JuJu (22.6), 58% PF
Standing: 3rd in A&T, 7th in PF (381.3)
Next Week’s Opponent: Erik (2-1)
My Thoughts: Well done lad. DJax may have failed Nauch despite my advice to start him over Kupp, but with the Dub I doubt anyone will complain. It’ll be interesting to see if this team can stay afloat now that they wrestled away a winning record after a poor opening.
(-1) 7. SMJ (1-2)
W3 Result: L vs Notch 125.5-129.4
Top 3 Scorers: Will Fuller V (23.1), Saquon (22.7), Golladay (17.3), 50% PF
Standing: 4th in A&T, 8th in PF (375.1)
Next Week’s Opponent: Roberto (0-3)
My Thoughts: Dan Bailey also fucked me in another league, bud, actually its the same matchup I mentioned in Gio’s write up lol. But that also being said Chuckie has to be somewhat worried about his start to the season. He currently sits with the third-worst PPG in the league and 1 trade left on the season. The league watches and hopes that this is the new status quo and not just Chuckie giving himself an extra challenge.
(-3) 8. Brown Town (0-3)
W3 Result: L vs Ant 131-162.7
Top 3 Scorers: Mahomies (33.3), Buck Allen (17.6), Hopkins (14.6), 50% PF
Standing: 4rd in Personality, 4th in PF (401.9)
Next Week’s Opponent: Gio (2-1)
My Thoughts: OK MAN. This is the last week I defend your honor. If you go 0-4 I’m hanging the done chain on you and you can join the party in the lowest tier. Hurtado is 4th in PF and really has no business being 0-3. His biggest problem is that he has been too consistent at scoring (7.88 point deviation is by far the smallest in the league) and has not been able to go boom and also has more RB injury problems than even Ant. Mahomes will probably live in the top scorer position over the next few weeks until this team gets it together. Next week is a must-win if you want to remain relevant in the playoff hunt.
(+1) 9. Hard Nipples (1-2)
W3 Result: L vs Erik 79.5-167
Top 3 Scorers: J. Howard (16.1), Sean Lee (12), Brady/Graham (9.5), 47% PF
Standing: 5th in A&T, 10th in PF (316.8)
Next Week’s Opponent: Joe (3-0)
My Thoughts: lol
(-1) 10. 69ers (0-3)
W3 Result: L vs Joe 106.4-172.9Top 3 Scorers: M. Evans (27.7), Rodgers (26.9), Watkins (18.5), 68/% PF
Standing: 5th in Personality, 9th in PF (365.7)Next Week’s Opponent: Chuck (1-2)My Thoughts: Damn son. First roster fuck up of the year but at least your story is pretty funny. I was working out and saw the On the Run Tour on the news and laughed my ass off. You wouldnt have won anyways but its about the principle. At least Beto gets the weaker of the two Cassidies next week, he has better odds at getting his first win this week than Jonathan does tbh.
