El Commish is back from a blog hiatus at the request of Chuck to take a look at the state of our Ten teams and weed out the contenders versus who is probably audi 5 thou. Cover pic unrelated.
Entering Week 8, playoffs become something to either prepare for or make last ditch efforts to get yourself into contention. Or, if you’re really bad, find new ways to check out of the season and start selling pieces off to the guy at your apartment 3 times a week.
I’ve tiered the teams out based on contenders, hopefuls, dark horses and gone fishin’. Along with that, a quick write-up on how their season has fared. No particular order outside of that.
Contenders
Gio
- Record: 4-3 (5 Seed)
- Division Record: 3-1 (2nd in Republicans)
- PF: 1289.8 (1st)
- Commissioner’s Cup: P1 (5 Podiums – Average Placement 3.14)
It’s beginning to look a lot like the 2020 season. Gio’s team has been by far the most consistent of the League this season when it comes to scoring, with only 1 game- this week- being lower than P4. His record, however, has not yet shown this. Gio’s 2 other losses on the year were the consequence of facing the highest scorer despite being P2 in both, so it’s pretty fair to take these with a grain of salt. Still, his current situation has him in the 5 seed though only 1 game back of a bye. I don’t expect weeks like this one to happen often for Gio going forward, though it does highlight the top-heaviness of his current roster. Most weeks, JSN, Achane, Bijan, Drake and Brandon Aubrey get it done. Will they show up when it matters most down the stretch? For what it’s worth, Gio was 4-3 at this point of the 2020 season too and didn’t lose another game after…
Bryan
- Record: 6-1 (1 Seed)
- Division Record: 3-1 (1st in Democrats)
- PF: 1079.5 (4th)
- Commissioner’s Cup: P4 (2 Podiums – Average Placement 4.71)
Jryan had a juiet start to the season, getting 2 key jivisional wins jespite a bad scoring output, but has jince been on a hockey stick jrend- jripping 4 wins (and top 5 performances) in a row to be at the jop of the playoff ladder and quickly jascending the ranks in the Jommissioner’s Jup. As usual, Jight Ends have been a massive contributor to this success, with Jake Ferguson and Jucker Kraft making a good duo. With that, jrades for Javonte Williams and Jalen Hurts have given the jeam even more quality jalent. Ja’Marr is now building a rapport with Unc Joe Flacco. If the rise of the J-squad continues, jis may be J’bryan’s best season in the jaking.
SCG
- Record: 5-2 (2 Seed)
- Division Record: 4-0 (1st in Republicans)
- PF: 1072.8 (5th)
- Commissioner’s Cup: P3 (2 Podiums – Average Placement 4.85)
Dan’s rookie campaign has been an enigma and by far the most talked-about player of the season so far. From his big gambles in the draft, to his 2-0 start followed by a series of highly controversial trades giving him the nickname “Radio,” the team’s on-field performance has equivalently been on a roller coaster . Baker has been the MVP for the team so far (dude basically has the real-life bucs) and the emergence of Cam Skattebo on top has shown the absolute ceiling this team can hit. Bucky Irving potentially returning after the bye and a lateral move for Kyren means even more firepower for the RB group. If he can find some stability at his supporting WRs, Dan can match or potentially surpass Bryan’s third place finish his rookie season.
Hopefuls
Erik
- Record: 4-3 (6 Seed)
- Division Record: 3-1 (3rd in Republicans)
- PF: 1199.3 (2nd)
- Commissioner’s Cup: P2 (4 Podiums – Average Placement 3.71)
Erik has rapidly seen his fantasy stock drop a bit in recent weeks. After a 4-0 record ended by Gio’s hands, this team has now been on a 3-game losing streak. The scoring remains there, having remained a strong competitor in the commish cup but this recent performance is just a reminder of how you can’t put too much trust in the Orange. Gio gave him a prime opportunity to take the lead back and he squandered it to a formerly winless opponent. Him and the Cowboys continue to lack the clutch gene.
Outside of Jonathan Taylor, the rest of this squad has been inconsistent and the benefactor of injuries to Rashee Rice, CeeDee and Bucky Irving alike. With those gravy trains coming to an end soon, can this team find a way to retool and get back on track?
Chuck
- Record: 5-2 (3 Seed)
- Division Record: 2-2 (2nd in Democrats)
- PF: 1130.2 (3rd)
- Commissioner’s Cup: P5 (2 Podiums – Average Placement 5.14)
While Chux News will put him atop the power rankings after this week, I will be a hater
am not convinced this squad is legit just yet. He continues to boast his huge wins, despite all but 1 being against the bottom half of the league, but Gibbs , CMC and Mahomes are masking a huge lack of depth. Unfortunately, we’re now at the part of the Cuck Cycle where he will start to make more aggressive advances towards the very retards he beat up to make some very favorable trades for starting talent. Chuck has spent many years hoping to get the devil magic back on his side, if it’s there now, I won’t expect him to be in this tier much longer.
Ryan
- Record: 5-2 (4 Seed)
- Division Record: 3-1 (3rd in Democrats)
- PF: 1042.1 (6th)
- Commissioner’s Cup: P6 (3 Podiums – Average Placement 5.85)
Ryan’s had a good season record-wise, but he has certainly been punching above his weight when you look at the team’s scoring. The whole squad screams boom-or-bust; from the Herbie/McConkey Stack, to BTJ, Waddle and Jettas having brain-damaged QBs throwing to them. Still, his team has showed positive trends- with back to back podiums and a 200-point game that proves on his good weeks, Ryan can hang with the best of the them. RB is definitely the biggest hole to plug, but if he can figure that out then he’s certainly going to keep moving in a positive direction.
Dark Horses
Rob
Record: 1-6 (7 Seed)Division Record: 1-3 (4th in Republicans)PF: 1028.7 (7th)Commissioner’s Cup: P7 (2 Podiums – Average Placement 6.00)Every Rob fadez season is the same i swear. You can pencil him in for 1-6, getting dicked by Erik, and having the most points allowed at the midway point of every year. And, as last season, he is on the verge of going to Cancun instead of trying for a Wild Card Run. This season’s swag draft has not panned out as hoped- Lamar Hurt, Saquon mid, inconsistent WRs and Shedeur Sanders have all worked against Rob to be able to put more than 2 solid weeks together. With SCG and Bryan comfortably ahead in standings, his best path to yoffs (really for everyone in this category) will be through Ryan or Erik falling off.
Wings
- Record: 3-4 (8 Seed)
- Division Record: 2-2 (4th in Democrats)
- PF: 986.1 (8th)
- Commissioner’s Cup: P8 (1 Podium – Average Placement 6.42)
It may not be the 0-5 start the team had after his 2018 title, but the Championship hangover has once again hit Wings like a ton of bricks. The talent on his roster has not been able to fully line up, with injuries, suspensions and midness affecting what is a strong WR Trio. On top of that, his franchise QB has been off to an incredibly rough start. Depth is also looking like a problem, and while a faab lotto ticket being wishful thinking, the Champ may need to bite the bullet and make a big trade to have the best shot at a comeback (no, Chuck).
Ant
Record: 1-6 (9 Seed)Division Record: 0-4 (5th in Democrats)PF: 943.7 (9th)Commissioner’s Cup: P9 (0 Podiums – Average Placement 7.14)Another ballsy call. Ant’s team has been a complete dumpster fire since week 1 between injuries and bad matchup luck. But, I think things could start to turn for him IF he can get fully healthy and really show off the WR core of Lamb, Pearsall, and Nico besides Judkins and Henry. Dak has been a stud too. He’s only 100 back of Ryan in the points race, which can be easily made up if he can keep trending in the right direction.
Gone Fishin
Nauch
- Record: 1-6 (10 Seed)
- Division Record: 0-4 (5th in Republicans)
- PF: 895.3 (10th)
- Commissioner’s Cup: P10 (0 Podiums – Average Placement 8.00)
Nauch man, Max is gonna win the title isn’t he? It’s inevitable.
BTW if you’re ever in the Dirty Dino, go try Pho 72 on Waterman. Best in town.
