What’s up degens. Welcome back to another installment of The Commissioner’s Report, we have officially made it further with it this year than the last 2 combined, LFG.

Before diving in, I want to give my sincerest well-wishes to Nick Chubb after yesterday’s brutal injury. It’s hard to be a universally liked player in Fantasy Football, but he is definitely one of those. Hope to see this man back on an NFL field in any capacity once he’s taken his time to recover. #ChubbStrong

That being said, it;s the NFL and the show must go on. There’s plenty to unpack this week, let’s jump in.

Commish’s Takes

The league woke up this week! After a relatively quiet week 1, there was a lot more scoring to go around that puts this year’s average (150.73) right in line with last season’s (150.10). So far have not seen any crazy scoring anomalies pop up from the changes made this offseason, but then again the top fantasy QBs so far have been warming their respective benches. This week also saw our first 200-bombs of the week, and fortunately nobody under 100 (or in Joe’s case, under 90).

Speaking of Joe, he successfully avoided opening the tank floodgates this week after his team erupted for a season-high 213 to secure P1, putting him right in the fray of the Commish Cup race. He joins Ryan, Gio and Chuck, who all put up consecutive top 5 finishes (consistency is the name of the game in this tourney). Chuck was able to land himself in third place to keep a steady lead in the standings, though it is still too early to get comfortable– while his 180 last week was good for P1, there was a lot more competition at the top this time around. Next week will be big to see if he can keep ahead of this tier.

Moving into the tightly-packed midfield, Nauch came crashing back down to Earth following a surprise P3 last week to just barely avoid last place (credit to Chubb’s knee… or lack thereof). Rob also took a step back due to injuries and the Bengals offense. The Love Train of Bryan, Erik and Wings, despite massive scoring improvements, were pushed down by the top of the field to make negligible moves in the standings.

Ant unfortunately finds himself in a familiar position this season as last after back-to-back finishes in the bottom two and lots of questions to answer for the roster in the wake of Chubb’s injury. If he can make it out of single-digit point totals next week, I’ll chalk that up as a win.

Postgame Interviews

I briefly caught up with this Week’s top 3 at the end of MNF (kept it short cause 2 games, one of them being Browns/Steelers, is mentally draining). Here’s what they had to say:

JOE (P1) [Commas added by the Editor]

I want to congratulate you on a huge bounce-back win after stumbling out the gate week 1. How are you feeling about your team after a dominant showing?

“Well obviously last week didn’t go my way with some disappointing performances, but this week I felt I was fucked after seeing swift and Addison put up numbers, but overall I am very happy with my team and my wr core putting up big numbers and with Gibbs possibly getting more opportunity, and Akers probably getting traded to the browns, I have high hopes for the rest of the season, but who knows I’ll probably fuck up somehow”

You have a big matchup vs Ryan next week and plenty of options to choose from. Who are you counting on to get you back above .500 for the first time since 2020

“Gibbs, with no Montgomery possibly he needs show that he’s just as good as a rusher as he is a pass catcher and score his first td “

RYAN (P2)
Great performance from your team this Monday night to secure second-best on the week. How are you feeling at 2-0?
“Pretty good. Tired, from being old and staying up past 9 but happy to see my team do so well without any of my keepers scoring a touchdown yet this year”

Despite that the offense is still there. Any concerns for Jaylen Waddle’s availability next week?
“Naw, if he plays I’ll play him, if not I’ll probably ride the Pickens hype train that’ll be coming after this week“

Definitely plenty of options at wideout to choose from. For running backs, though, have you gotten comfortable with any of these guys as a start versus Joe?
“My Rbs are definitely hit or miss but so far they’ve been doing their job. I have 3 to choose from that I think can do put up a fight against Joe who definitely has a scary good team”

CHUCK (P3)

Great to be speaking with you again after another top 3 finish to close out week 2. How’d you like your overall performance this week compared to last?

“Cause I beat the shit out of Ant. Sad it had to be that way, but it’s all love towards my blogger BOYZ. Just want to take this time to say I hope for a speedy recovery for Nick Chubb and he’s in my thoughts and prayers.”
Classy move. As a former Chubb manager my best wishes to him as well. While you scored about the same this week, the rest of the league woke up and were right there with you. Do you think your team can keep this consistency going, or even improve?“I think it can improve honestly. It’s been slow QB start outside of Hurts mahomes and Allen. We haven’t seen Bijan fully unlocked yet and Terry is finally getting back to health. Zay flowers emergence it’s coming full circle. Dropping 200+ on Robs head next week.”
You definitely seem to still be figuring out QB, with 3 guys on your roster. Any idea on who you’ll be rolling with for next week’s match versus Roberto?“I do not unfortunately. Might be tua. Either way I don’t need a  consistent Qb to win”
